I went to Two Gates Ragged School from a very early age and became the bell ringer in my early teens.
During the Second world War on V.E. Day (Victory in Europe) Mr Clifford Willetts came to my home in Two Gates at around midnight to ask my parents if I would ring the chapel bell to celebrate the ending of the war in Europe.
Everyone living in Two Gates came out of their homes when they heard the bell ringing to celebrate the ending of the war in Europe.
